Donor Organizations Will Gather in Ljubljana for the Annual Meeting of the learn4dev

More than 20 donor agencies and multilateral organizations will gather at the annual meeting of the learn4dev network. The CEF is organizing this year's annual meeting of the network together with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It will take place on June 16-18 at Grand Hotel Union.

The meeting agenda will cover a panel discussion on current trends in development cooperation. The panel discussion will aim to respond to some of the following questions:

• What are the new trends? What is specifically important in relation to the learn4dev network?
• What actually works? Where is impact actually being achieved? When, where and how are international initiatives effective on the ground?
• In the world of numerous, often overlapping international initiatives … are we putting enough (or too much focus) on understanding the results? Are we encouraging a culture of learning from failure? Or are we too quickly disillusioned when something isn’t bringing immediate results and too eager to try new things?
• How are our organizations learning? What learning theories are we using?

The meeting will be focused on challenges and opportunities the participants are facing at their work. Participants will articulate these and develop a plan on how they can mutually address them in the forthcoming year(s). The final product will be an action plan to be included in the learn4dev overall plan for the coming year.

About learn4dev:

learn4dev is a joint donors’ competence development network and an open forum for donor agencies and multilateral organizations. Its objective is to promote improved aid effectiveness for poverty reduction by enhancing donor cooperation in the field of competence development and training.

It works with three different components to develop members' competences. Expert Groups concentrate knowledge in specific areas to teach other members. A Core Group promotes better co-operation by organizing learn4dev's Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting helps the network achieve better communication and development.
