The US Donors Challenge Fund through the USAID and Slovenia’s Development Cooperation through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia decided to extend their financial support for the CEF’s Training of Internal Auditors in the Public Sector (TIAPS) program in Macedonia. The decision to extend financing was based on the very favorable results achieved by the first two cohorts at the certification level (level 1) of the program, who studied in the period from 2012 to 2014.

The CEF signed a contract with the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in early July 2014 for the period of 15 months. The remaining period of the project will be funded by the US Donors Challenge Fund. The two-year program will end in 2016.

The donations will support the third cohort of students in this program that will start their studies in autumn. The students will be assisted by local tutors, trained during the previous iterations of the TIAPS program in Macedonia. Slovenian tutors and supervisors will provide the tutors with additional guidance. Both donations will be used also for translation of learning materials from English to Macedonian and for training of local tutors at the diploma level (level 2). Hopefully, this and the past iterations will generate a sufficient number of candidates with managerial background who we will invite to contribute to the CEF Certification Programs in the future projects.

About TIAPS:
The Training of Internal Auditors in the Public Sector (TIAPS) is a program that strengthens professional qualifications in internal audit processes. It helps individuals apply international standards and improve accountability within reformed public finance systems. The training curriculum devotes special attention to requirements introduced by EU accession processes. The curriculum consists of four integrated modules at the certificate level and three integrated modules at the diploma level. Each level can be completed within a year. The program offers internationally recognized, professional qualification provided jointly by the CEF and CIPFA (Charted Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy).
