Innovations in Learning and Learning Technologies to Promote Development Cooperation

The recent learn4dev Expert Group Leaders Meeting was an opportunity for chairs across different expert groups to exchange information on current learning offerings and relevant resources available among learn4dev members. New learning technologies and e-learning were in the focus of discussions.

To further develop learn4dev as a joint learning partnership opportunities for cross expert group work through enhanced donor co-operation were examined. We are chairing the Public Finance Management (PFM) expert group and were especially interested on cooperation in gender budgeting learning initiatives.

Exchange on innovation in learning and learning technologies was especially interesting for us as we have recently established Online Learning Team working on development of e-learning solutions. Despite all the advantages that the new technologies are offering it was concluded that face-to-face learning should not be neglected and blended learning solutions are the most effective approach to modern learning.

Together with BTC we are supporting communications of the network. Most recent novelty in this field is the learn4dev account on Twitter. The new communication channel was established to support the visibility of the learn4dev activities.

Expert Group Leaders also discussed the theme of the 2016 learn4dev Annual Meeting and general consensus was that the topic should be innovation in learning and learning technologies in connection to the sustainable development goals.

The meeting was held at the European Commission on December 10, 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.
