New Tax-related Learning Opportunities in 2016

At the CEF, we are convinced that knowledge exchange is a powerful tool for accelerating reform processes in our constituent countries. With this in mind, we have been working closely with our network of content experts and partners to design high-quality, practical and participant-centered learning initiatives which address crucial components of modern tax administration.

Modern taxation methods are spreading throughout SEE and evidence suggests that regional tax administrations have made substantial progress in strengthening tax administration in recent years. However, modern approaches to compliance management require an extensive modern skill set and as such call for extensive training and ongoing technical assistance.

With this in mind, we launched Supporting Capacity Development of Tax Administrations in SEE Project in January 2015. In 2015 all learning initiatives delivered under the Project were well attended and received. The results achieved in 2015 are testimony of our growing ability to bridge existing knowledge gaps, improve capacities and help develop required skills to work towards a common goal of making regional tax administrations effective and efficient in adopting modern approaches to tax compliance. We further expanded our regional footprint also by showcasing the reform efforts of our constituent countries and capturing discussions during face-to-face learning initiatives through the use of different social media. Such created shared memory makes important lessons learned from our face-to-face learning initiatives more accessible and convenient to a wider network of tax officials. In addition it also multiplies the effects of learning as crucial messages become an important learning resource.

We are committed to continue to enhance the efforts of tax officials across SEE to comprehensively deal with all aspects of modern approaches to tax compliance. This effort results in new learning solutions to be delivered under the Project in 2016. Our goal remains to bring together tax officials from several countries for an innovative and unique international learning experience where they are encouraged to share their competences and insights actively with others and identify opportunities for applying the gained knowledge.
