Navigating the Complexities of Economic Reform Programme Coordination Process
As part of the ongoing "Structural Reforms Better Integrated Within Fiscal Frameworks" (FISR2) project, we are pleased to announce the release of a new publication titled "Good Practices in Economic Reform Programme (ERP) Coordination Processes”. This thorough analysis with case studies focuses on the complexities of coordinating ERP processes in the Western Balkans and Türkiye and offers an overview of the challenges and successes encountered in aligning structural reforms with budgetary processes and national strategic planning.
The publication illustrates effective strategies for enhancing coordination, improving communication flows, and ensuring the timely implementation of structural reforms. Key findings emphasize the importance of stable ERP structures, active engagement of high-level government officials, and the alignment of ERP cycles with budget calendars for optimal results.
One of the crucial recommendations highlighted in the publication is the need for year-round coordination and the adoption of digitalization to streamline communication processes within ERP working groups. Moreover, the publication advocates for depoliticizing the coordination process and appointing professionals as coordinators to ensure consistency and institutional memory. In summary, the publication serves as a practical resource for ERP coordination working groups seeking to improve their coordination efforts and drive meaningful socioeconomic development aligned with the EU integration process.
