About this learning event

Public sector internal auditors face ethical challenges as they operate in environments subject to growing public and media scrutiny. Such conditions can create pressures to soften findings or avoid politically sensitive issues, potentially undermining their integrity if not managed effectively.

This session introduces practical strategies aligned with the new Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS), which guide ethical practice for internal auditors. Participants will explore real-world cases to learn how to uphold integrity while delivering value to their organizations, preserving organizational reputation, credibility, and organization’s ability to serve the public interest.

As the GIAS requires truthful communication and taking appropriate action, the webinar will foster peer learning on how to maintain honesty and professionalism even working under pressures. The webinar will also emphasize the role of organizational support, including ethics education and continuous learning, to help auditors maintain professionalism and ethical resilience under pressure.

During this webinar, you will:

  • Understand how GIAS principles guide ethical behavior and professional courage in public sector auditing
  • Understand the types of external pressures and risks that challenge ethical behavior in public sector auditing
  • Explore ways internal auditors can strengthen ethical resilience
