About this learning event

This study visit will include a visit to the Slovenian Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD). The aim is to learn from Slovenian macroeconomists about the following topics: 

  • The general organization of IMAD: its official tasks and reports, participation in design of government policies/strategies, institutional position (professional independence), its relationship with the Centre of Government (PMO), Ministry of Finance, and line ministries 
  • Cooperation with institutions such as Statistics Office, Fiscal Council, Central Bank, EU bodies, and other institutes 
  • Methodologies used for forecasting 
  • Methodologies used for impact assessment of government policies/strategies 
  • Supporting analytical work and outputs 
  • Communication strategies and engagement with the public 

After receiving insights from the IMAD, a facilitated peer learning discussion will follow, focusing on how these lessons can inform the professional development of macroeconomic institutions (departments, offices) in countries aspiring to EU accession.

The study visit is designed for macroeconomic departments of ministries of finance from Western Balkans and Türkiye and it is by invitation only.
