About this learning event

This online course will provide a comprehensive overview of cyber security and the evolution of the threat landscape for financial institutions. It will also cover core principles of sound risk management, regulatory approaches, and effective supervisory practices. Participants will develop skills needed to assess the level of cyber risk at financial institutions and their compliance with regulations. The course will enhance understanding of how cyber risks affect the financial sector, their potential impact on institutions and financial stability, and strategies for mitigation through regulation and effective supervision. Additionally, the workshop will address the cyber risks stemming from innovations, such as financial technology, AI, and crypto assets.

Who should attend

This online course is primarily designed for employees working in regulation and supervision of banking and other financial sectors as well as representatives from payment systems departments.

Participants from other departments in central banks and financial supervisory authorities are also encouraged to join.

Course delivery

The online course will feature a mix of webinars (90-120 minutes) and work in groups on practical case studies.

  • November 20 at 14:00 CET: Cyber risk management concepts; global trends in cyber risk regulation
  • November 21 at 14:00 CET: Cyber risk supervisory processes; FMI cyber risk oversight
  • November 24 at 14:00 CET: Incident reporting and information sharing; Cyber resilience / business continuity
  • November 25 at 14:00 CET: Security testing and crisis exercises; Third-party risk management incl. cloud risk
  • November 26 at 14:00 CET: Good practices in cyber risk supervision; Ask the experts - interactive session
  • November 28 at 14:00 CET: Group presentations
