Becoming a More Conscious Leader through WeCoach Journey

Geri Dule from the Albanian School of Public Administration (ASPA) reflects on his journey within the WeCoach component of the WeLead project, funded by the European Union. In his reflection, he shares how structured coaching supported her personal growth and helped her become a more conscious and intentional leader.

"I joined the WeCoach component of the WeLead project at a moment in my professional journey when I was already deeply engaged in my work, motivated, and future-oriented. As a public servant, I take seriously the responsibility that this role entails. I am constantly looking ahead, thinking about how systems, processes, and people can be improved. At the same time, this strong sense of responsibility also brought certain challenges, particularly in decision-making, communication, and defining my own leadership style.

Being part of the WeCoach program gave me a structured and safe space to pause and reflect. Through one-to-one coaching sessions, I became more aware of how I approach decisions, how I communicate expectations, and how my tendency to “do more” can sometimes affect clarity, focus, and sustainability. Coaching helped me shift from simply acting fast and responsibly to acting more consciously and strategically.

One of the most valuable aspects of the WeCoach component was the way it challenged my thinking. My coach, Nena Veber, consistently encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone through thought-provoking and sometimes demanding exercises. These moments were not always easy, but they were essential. They pushed me to question assumptions, explore different perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of my own leadership behavior. I remained open to these challenges, and this openness became one of the key drivers of my development.

Through coaching, I strengthened my ability to make decisions with greater clarity, communicate more effectively, and lead in a way that is both responsible and balanced. I now approach leadership less as “doing everything myself” and more as creating direction, space, and trust while keeping a clear focus on the future.

I am grateful to the CEF team for creating this opportunity and especially to Nena Veber for her professionalism, patience, and ability to challenge me in meaningful ways. The WeCoach experience has not changed who I am, but it has helped me become a more aware, grounded, and intentional version of the professional I strive to be."
