Building Competence and Confidence: A Reflection on the LearnOrg Project Experience
Learning experiences can leave a lasting mark, shaping not only our skills but also our outlook on growth and collaboration. This story offers a glimpse into such a journey — a reflection on participating in innovative training within the LearnOrg project and the impact it had on our professional practice. Written by Poiata Ala, Head of Section, Human Resources Management Division, State Tax Service, this value creation story invites you to discover how these opportunities inspired new approaches, fresh insights, and a renewed commitment to continuous learning.
"Anyone who loves their field speaks with great inspiration and warmth about experiences that have an imminent impact on them. Likewise, as specialists from the training subdivision of the State Fiscal Service, we can proudly say that our participation in the NBM LearnOrgLab Training of Trainers event, facilitated by TIGERS experts from the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands, was one such experience.
The two days of interactive activities, organized with the support of specialists from the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), provided exceptional added value – the kind that would normally take much longer to acquire, if at all, especially considering the limited opportunities to meet such field experts in Moldova. The way in which the event was conducted, especially the balanced rhythm in relation to the level of energy with which we were involved, was an element that we discovered and used in the training activities that we subsequently conducted for the employees of the State Fiscal Service.
Another discovery for us was the need to respect the security area of the training participants – an aspect that, I think, is not considered during the training I have attended. At the same time, this aspect can be a significant one for the efficient conduct of events.
The degree of involvement in the event activities and the methods used to achieve this goal impressed us with their simplicity of application and the ease with which the training participants responded to the requests. Participation in the course once again emphasized the level of responsibility that a trainer has, who must form a group of people with experience and skills already existing in the field – methods and ways to establish the connection between them.
Participation in the training of trainer’s workshop, “Knowledge Exchange in Public Institutions,” contributed to a significant increase in personal communication, presentation, and learning facilitation skills. Within it, we learned effective methods to structure the content and adapt the message to various audiences, which will allow us to support better organized and more interactive training sessions. The training stimulated a positive attitude toward continuous learning and personal development, both for us and for those we will train. We were motivated to constantly improve our teaching style.
We learned how to create a friendly and motivating environment, where learners feel encouraged, actively participate, share ideas, and learn together. Moreover, the awareness that being a trainer does not only mean talking, but also listening, motivating, and encouraging, will certainly contribute to the success of the training sessions we will support. In addition to pedagogical skills, the training workshop also developed competencies in planning and organizing training activities, time management, and preparing teaching materials – essential aspects for a successful trainer.
All participants showed seriousness, active involvement, and willingness to assume the role of trainers, which indicates good preparation to face the responsibilities that this role entails. Participating in that course changed not only our skills but also the way we see the world – as a place full of people eager to learn and grow together."
