Driving Organizational Change Through Collaboration at the National Bank of Moldova
As part of the National Bank of Moldova – Institutional Transformation into a Learning Organization (NBM LearnOrgLab) project, this value creation story shows how one concrete learning experience led to visible changes in daily work. Over three intensive days in Chișinau, NBM HR team used practical tools and a systemic approach to improve collaboration, clarify roles, and strengthen communication. These reflections highlight how the workshop translated into clearer ways of working, stronger connections, and more coordinated effort toward shared goals.
"Between September 24–26, 2025, we held a powerful three-day workshop in Chișinau focused on strengthening team collaboration and effective communication across the organization. This initiative, part of the NBM LearnOrgLab project, brought together 50 active participants eager to explore how collaboration functions at a systemic level.
Guided by experienced team coaches Jasna Knez and Cvetka Mozoli, we engaged in a deeply participatory process that allowed us to uncover the intricate dynamics that shape team behavior, relationships, and performance. Using the PERILL model—a systemic framework that views teams and organizations as complex adaptive systems—we examined the multiple layers that influence collaboration: from purpose and motivation to leadership, internal and external processes, relationships, and continuous learning. What stood out was how interconnected all these dimensions are, and how essential it is to approach collaboration not in isolation, but as part of a broader system. This lens helped teams identify strengths, gaps, and areas where targeted, strategic action could create meaningful shifts both in the short and long term.
The PERILL model proved to be a particularly powerful tool for engaging each participant not just as an observer, but as an active contributor to organizational change. By reflecting on their team’s current dynamics and identifying opportunities for improvement, each employee was encouraged to commit—through personal choice—to concrete actions that strengthen collaboration and communication. This created a strong sense of ownership and personal accountability, which in turn enhanced each individual's sense of purpose and contribution to the bigger picture of their team and the organization as a whole. As a result, we observed an increase in motivation and engagement, as well as a more intentional attitude toward team performance and organizational goals.
One of the most valuable outcomes of this workshop was the clarity it brought to the role of collaboration in shaping organizational culture. When attention is consistently given to improving the way people work together, this not only leads to better outcomes—it also builds a healthier, more vibrant work environment. Teams that feel connected and supported are more likely to thrive, and employees who feel heard and valued are more inclined to bring their best selves to work. By investing in systemic collaboration and communication, we lay the foundation for a culture where people work with purpose and passion, and where performance is driven by shared understanding rather than isolated effort. As a learning organization, we recognize that sustained growth and development depend on our ability to think systemically, to connect across boundaries, and to evolve together.
This workshop was more than a learning event—it was a strategic step toward building a more connected, aware, and adaptive organization. The methods and tools shared during this process have not only supported our immediate goals, but also provided a structure for ongoing development. We now look ahead with confidence and clarity, ready to expand the use of the PERILL model across teams and departments, deepening our collective capacity for collaboration and enabling long-term, meaningful transformation.
Through this workshop, the NBM has strengthened its foundation as a learning organization—one that values reflection, shared purpose, and systemic collaboration. By cultivating these capabilities, we are enhancing not only our institutional resilience and adaptability, but also our collective ability to deliver on our strategic mission with greater cohesion, innovation, and impact."
