Digitalization and IT Systems in Tax Administrations - Use of AI
About this learning event
This annual workshop will focus on sharing insights and best practices on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping taxpayer services, analytics and data processing, compliance and risk management across Tax Administrations in Southeast Europe. Participants will discuss suggested approaches for governance and etnical use of AI in a tax administration setting, including security, privacy, transparency protocols, and ethical data use frameworks.
Following topics will be addressed:
- AI fundamentals (what AI is, policies, tools for managing use cases, state of play around the world);
- Generative AI because it is exciting;
- How to leverage AI to improve core digital operations;
- Launch of a “promptathon” (with follow up after the event)
Participants will continue the peer exchange of experiences on how use of AI can support tax administrations in achieving compliance by designing, simplifying, and accelerating tax-related processes.
Who should attend
The workshop is designed for officials involved in key business processes within tax administrations, including tax registration, compliance risk management, auditing, taxpayer services, and IT.

Practical information
Travel, accommodation and hospitality costs for up to two selected participants from Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (up to three), Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Georgia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Türkiye, and Ukraine will be covered by the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands, the Ministry of Finance of the Slovakia, and Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.
