CEF Strengthens Partnerships During High-Level Visit to North Macedonia

On March 10–11, 2026, the CEF team, led by Director Jana Repanšek, held a series of high-level meetings in North Macedonia with key government institutions and international partners. The visit aimed to renew and deepen institutional commitment to capacity development, explore opportunities for tailored cooperation, and strengthen long-term strategic partnerships supporting EU integration and national reform agendas. North Macedonia currently chairs the CEF Governing Board, which is led by Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, Minister of Finance of North Macedonia.

Meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, State Audit office, and the Public Revenue Office, as well as with partners including the Delegation of the European Union to North Macedonia, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Skopje, the Embassy of Sweden, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, and other international partners and members of the diplomatic community. The CEF has been working closely with institutions in North Macedonia to strengthen the analytical capacity needed to design and implement reforms aligned with EU accession requirements.

In partnership with national authorities and with support from the EU, CEF has supported public institutions in applying EU-aligned impact assessment methodologies to better understand the economic, fiscal, and social effects of reforms. By strengthening evidence-based policymaking and institutional skills, this cooperation enables public administrations to prioritize reforms, connect policy objectives with measurable outcomes, and build sustainable capacity for effective governance and economic reform implementation.

Building on this cooperation, the meetings provided an opportunity for the CEF to engage senior institutional leadership, confirm ongoing capacity development needs, and ensure that future learning programs remain aligned with reform implementation priorities and evolving national coordination structures. They also helped deepen long-term cooperation with partner institutions, explore tailored project opportunities that institutions can co-implement with the CEF, and advocate for continued support for capacity development across the region.
