Oct 5 – 6, 2026 TBD No Fee

About this learning event

As an EU member state, Slovenia has committed to ambitious climate goals, aligning its national climate policy with the European Green Deal and the EU Climate Law. Slovenia’s climate policy is guided by several key instruments that support its transition to a low-carbon economy. The National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) serves as the core policy framework, outlining the 2030 targets. It focuses on expanding renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, decarbonizing transport, and investing in research and developmentThe Long-Term Climate Strategy to 2050 charts the path toward climate neutrality, setting out scenarios for deep emission reductions across all sectors. To support implementation, Slovenia uses the Climate Change Fund, which finances mitigation and adaptation measures using revenues from the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Additional support comes from a mix of regulatory and fiscal tools, including carbon pricing mechanisms, green public procurement, sustalinable and sustainability-linked bond issuance, and targeted incentives such as subsidies for electric vehicles and energy-efficient building renovation. Participants will have the opportunity to visit key institutions, and stakeholders involved in Sloveni's green transition.
