About this learning event

Accelerating climate action in the Western Balkans requires not only strong policies, but also financing solutions that are robust, innovative, and accessible. By fostering dialogue among key actors, this conference aims to strengthen cooperation across sectors and levels of governance in support of the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. It will provide a space to explore financing mechanisms and instruments that can help bridge the gap between policy commitments and implementation

This conference will bring together public officials from ministries of finance and key line ministries, alongside representatives of international organizations, development partners, regional and local authorities, and the private sector. It will examine how the green transition can be financed in practice, which financing instruments are already available or could be further developed, and how these instruments can be translated into concrete actions and projects.

The conference will be organized alongside several linked learning activities, and participants are encouraged to apply to at least one related event: the Training of Trainers for Members of Working Groups, the Workshop on Communicating Climate Actions, or the Study Visit on Climate Action in Slovenia.

Who should attend

This conference is intended primarily for public officials and decision-makers from the six Western Balkan countries, working in fields of public finance, economic development, environment, and climate action. Participation is also relevant for officials from other levels of government and the broader public administration involved in supporting and financing the green transition.

This event is delivered as part of the Greening Human Capital of Public Institutions of the Western Balkans project implemented by the CEF and supported by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy and the Climate Change Fund of Slovenia. Hosting of the event is also supported by the City Municipality of Celje.
